Former USC star quarterback Mark Sanchez was selected by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Sanchez's break out year for USC was 2008, when he was finally named starting quarterback. In the opener Sanchez put up career best yards against Virgina and leading USC to a 12-1 record. Sanchez ended his college career on a high note against Penn State in the 2009 Rose Bowl. USC won 38-24 with Sanchez passing for 413 yards. After the Rose Bowl Sanchez was still undecided if he was going to return to USC for his senior year. However after Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy all decided to stay for their senior years Sanchez decided it was a good year to go pro.
Coming into training camp Sanchez was the #2 quarterback behind Kellen Clemens. However before the start of the regular season Rex Ryan named Sanchez the starter. On September 13, 2009 Sanchez got his first regular season start against the Houston Texans. He threw for 272 yards with one TD and one INT, leading the Jets to a 24-7 win.

Jim Brown was one of the greatest running backs to play in the NFL. Even though Brown only played nine seasons with the Cleveland Browns (1957-1965) he held the NFL career rushing record until 1984. Brown was selected to nine NFL Pro Bowls and was a three time NFL MVP. Wanting to pursue an acting career Brown cut his career short and decided to try and make his mark on Hollywood. Jim Brown was selected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971. Brown played his collegiate ball for Syracuse University where he was also a star basketball, track and lacrosse player. During his time at Syracuse he led the lacrosse team to the national championship. Brown was also selected to the College Football Hall of Fame and Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Dan Marino is one of the most statistical accomplished quarterbacks in NFL history. He played his entire career (1983-1999) with the Miami Dolphins where he played in 9 Pro Bowls and won the NFL MVP in 1984. It is often argued that Marino is one of the greatest NFL players to never win a Super Bowl and possibly one of the greatest sports stars to never win a championship in his sport. The Miami Dolphins made it to Super Bowl XIX but lost to the Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers, 16-38. This would be the only Super Bowl Dan Marino would lead the Dolphins to. Going to the Super Bowl so early in his career most thought he would have many more opportunities to get a ring, unfortunately it was never to be. Marino retired from the Dolphins after the 1999 season and was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995.

If there was ever a player who embodied New York sports it was 'Broadway Joe'. He is best known for guaranteeing an upset win over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts 1969 AFL-NFL Championship game (Super Bowl III). Namath delivered on his guarantee, leading the Jets to a 16-7 over the Colts. With his 12 years with the Jets he was a five time Prow Bowl selection and two time AFL MVP. Namath was the starting QB for the Jets in Monday Night Football's inaugural game against the Cleveland Browns. Namath was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. To this date the #12 Jets jersey is one of the most distinguishable NFL jerseys. Not only was Namath a great NFL player he excelled for the Alabama Crimson Tide under coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.

Barry Sanders is one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. Unfortunately he played for the Detroit Lions and was never able to add a Super Bowl title to his football accomplishments. Sanders was known as one of the classiest players to play the game. With players such as Deion Sanders and Ickey Woods doing dances with each touchdown they scored, Barry Sanders did nothing more than hand the ball to the ref. With the Lions, Sanders was selected to 10 Pro Bowls and was the Co-MVP in 1997 (Brett Favre). Not only was Sanders an accomplished runner in the NFL he was also a great collegiate back for Oklahoma State. In 1988 he won the Heisman Trophy beating out Rodney Pete and Troy Aikman. In 1999 Barry Sanders retired from the NFL and was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
