49ers Choose O’Sullivan Over Smith
The San Francisco 49ers have choose J.T. O'Sullivan as their QB to start the 2008 season. O'Sullivan was a backup in Detroit so he was already familiar with Mike Martz's offense.
Things haven't been rosey for Alex Smith since being the No. 1 pick in the 2005 NFL draft. The Niners haven't been that good and unfortunalty some of that rests on the shoulder of Smith. I also think Mike Nolan is worried about his job for next year. He needs a good season from the team this year so keep his job next year and he believes O'Sullivan will give him that chance,
With Smith being a backup this brings up something interesting. At the start of the 2008 season there will be No. 1 overall picks working as backup quarterbacks, Alex Smith with the 49ers and David Carr with the New York Giants. Not to mention the 2001 No.1 overall pick Michael Vick.
